A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
